Inspired...sort of

Since my Audioscrobbler feed ended up working so well I decided to try and add a live news feed as well. Basically I used feeddigest to combine two feeds: a search on digg.com for "semantic web" and the same search on moreover.com. So far, it's OK. It's not showing the source for the feed but I did get over the color problem that was plaguing me this morning. I'm not sure both feeds are being represented either. I think digg might be dominating. In any event I don't have the time to mess with it and get it exactly right. The end of the semester is drawing nigh and I still have crap to do. In fact I should be working on my school work now rather than writing this, much less getting these feeds up and running. Oh well, I know I'll have pleanty of time to get things spic and span in December.

This Old Blog

Well my quest for blog improvement has gotten a shot in the arm today (last night really). Thanks to Brian at myvogonpoetry.com and the fine folks at feeddigest.com I've now got my AudioScrobbler Recently Played List on my blog. Horray! I'm going to mess around with the layout a little (I don't like the repetition) but I'm pretty happy with the overall effect and how easy it was. I want to have my live del.icio.us bookmarks up on here as well. It shouldn't be too hard. For anyone stumbling upon this who wants to do something similar (display a RSS feed on your blog/webpage) I suggest Brian's how-to here.

Zombie-Walk-A-Thon

I missed the Columbia zombie walk last night. I'm quite disappointed. I had just returned from a seminar out of town and was really looking forward to it. I got a late start then never caught up with the mob. Lousy shiftless zombies. I didn't want to stay out late in the cold for too long since I'm fighting an illness. Anyway, here's the site for the walk. If anyone posts pictures from it I'll link them here.

Tab browser preferences came out for Flock! Sweet sweet nectar...

test

this is to see about puncuation when posting to blogger with flock.? The last few times I've posted there have been question marks after any period.? It seemed to stop after there was some other puncuation tho.? So let us see.? Does it do it now?? Now.? Now.Now.Now.

Nothing Much...

Not a whole lot going on. Just felt like writing a few lines. I'm at work and a little under the weather. Still posting and using Flock. Still loving it. Still wishing it had the #&%^@ Tab Browser extension on it so my tabs would work the way I want them to. I really do like it but I'm quickly finding out how lame the RSS aggregator is. It may work fine for a couple very simple aggregated sites but I want multiple complxex news sources etc. with a better way to sort/view and so on. What I need to do is sit down with the code and figure this stuff out and get it looking the way I want it to but school is prohibitive of my time. I guess if anything I really should fix the way this stupid blog looks. Have some real links on the sidebar. Oh, someday.

Flock, Part 3

Ok, I'm still impressed with this piece of software. It's pretty easy to set up and I've just set up a news aggregator for it which is nice. I'd like a little more flexibility with how it's displayed but this is still just a preview/beta. Some say it's just taking plug-ins from Firefox and making it a part of the browser but I would disagree. The blogging part is nice, possibly a feature that could be simply implemented with a plug-in but it's very smooth and slick and just well integrated period. The RSS aggregator needs work but I think I like it (at least initially) better than Sage. The Favorites feature is what floors me the most tho. Wow, full integration with del.icio.us is even better than I thought. I've run into a couple bugs but nothing major. Kudos again to all involved.

Flock, Take 2

I'm still trying Flock. My last post didn't get posted (or is taking it's time getting there) so I'm trying this one just to see if it's going to work. WORK darn you!! Here's a pic from my flickr photo set to see if this works. Ok, it's the only photo in any set but I still want to see if it works.

And now I see the problem was with the stupid old blogger.com account I had. This should work *crosses fingers and toes*. More after these messages...
